Weather, But Make it A Mood

What is your favorite type of weather?

(because the forecast really does depend on which version of me woke up today)

Honestly… it depends on my mood.
Some days I want that soft, overcast, cozy‑girl weather — the kind where the sky is one big gray blanket and everything finally agrees to speak in a whisper. The kind of day where my brain goes, “Oh thank god, we can think in full sentences again.”

Other days I crave sunshine that feels like a warm southern embrace — the kind that settles on your skin and lingers, golden and heavy, like it’s trying to convince you to slow down. The kind of sun that smells like sunscreen and possibility and also quietly judges you if you didn’t bring water.

And then there’s the warm southern rain.
Not the chaotic sideways stuff — the gentle kind.
The kind that falls warm enough to stand in, soft enough to feel like a release.
It’s the weather equivalent of a good cry you pretend you didn’t need. The kind that makes the pavement steam and the air smell like wet earth and second chances.

And sometimes? I want the full drama.
A thunderstorm rolling in like the sky’s had enough.
That low rumble that feels like a warning and a lullaby at the same time. Lightning stitching the clouds together. Rain coming down in sheets. The whole world pausing like, “Okay, fine, we’ll deal with our feelings.”
It’s comforting when the sky throws the tantrum so I don’t have to.

Fall has its own kind of magic — that crisp sweater‑weather air that tastes like apples and nostalgia. The kind of day where the breeze tugs at your sleeves and the leaves crunch under your sneakers like they’re applauding your bare‑minimum effort. Warm apple cider in hand, cheeks a little pink, everything feeling softer than it did yesterday.

But winter?
Absolutely not.
Snow is pretty for twelve minutes and then it becomes a hostile work environment. The cold feels personal — like it’s trying to negotiate with my will to live. I’m not built for weather that bites back.
So if it’s snowing, you’ll find me wrapped in a blanket, today’s flavor of soup in hand, cocoa on standby, and an immersive book pulling me into a world where my toes aren’t plotting revenge.
That’s my winter strategy: cozy, warm, and aggressively indoors.

So my favorite weather?
It’s whatever matches the version of me that shows up that day — soft, sunny, stormy, or somewhere in between… just not freezing.

Snow is cute for the first storm and maybe a holiday sprinkle… after that, it’s just winter overstaying its welcome.
